In 2004 the Town
Council initiated a Town Plan process.
What is a Town
Plan?
A Town Plan is
written by the people of the town, for the town and contains a
vision for Callington and Kelly Bray for the next 5 to 10 years. It
gives a purpose and specific goals for all the planning and other issues
within a town, whether this is youth, shopping facilities, transport,
health or other services and issues.
The whole process
started with consultations with the residents. There was a well attended
exhibition and consultation sessions. A town plan group was
formed with various representatives from the town's population. In June
2004, the main consultation in the form of a questionnaire went out to
every resident in the town. Over 45% of these were returned, giving an
invaluable cross-section of opinion from everyone in the parish.
Following the results of the
questionnaire and the opinions expressed by residents at the open
meetings held on a variety of subjects, the final draft of the Town Plan
was presented and has now been approved.
