4. For Decision – Estimates for Outside Services and Town Hall & Properties for 2010 - 2011
The committee considered the estimates for Outside Services and Town Hall & Premises for the forthcoming year 2010-2011.
This year Cornwall Council has announced that the double charge refund is to be abolished over a two year period. There will be a further 50% reduction for the 2010/2011 period and total abolishment for the 2011/2012 period. These double charge refunds only relate to Burial grounds, parks and street lighting. This will result in a reduction of approximately £7,700 for this year and another £7,700 for the following year.
Resolved. It was proposed by Cllr Thomas, seconded by Cllr Mrs Gold and unanimously agreed to recommend to Full Council the Town Hall & Premises and Outside Services estimates for 2010/2011 as presented in the report, including the price increases (effective form the 1st April 2010) for commercial charges for the Town Hall;
And recommend that a further £5,000 is set aside for the future provision of an air conditioning unit for the main hall.
5. For Decision – Proposed internal redevelopment of the town hall
The committee considered the architect’s recommendation to approve JNC Safety Service as the CDM co-ordinator and considered giving the Clerk delegated authority (in consultation with the Chairman) to deliver the agreed project with the exception of selecting the successful tender.
Resolved. It was proposed by Cllr Long, seconded by Cllr Mrs Gold and unanimously agreed that JNC Safety Service be approved as the CDM co-ordinator for the Town Hall project:
And that the Clerk be given delegated authority (in consultation with the Chairman) to deliver the agreed project with the exception of selecting the successful tender.
6. For Decision – Temporary Closure of Saltash Road Car Park; 10th July 2010 for the Callington Carnival.
The organisers of the Gala Day and Carnival Parade have decided to make some changes to the events being held in July 2010. They wish to hold the Carnival Parade on the 10th July and they wish to relocate it so that the procession starts and finishes in Saltash Road car park.
To facilitate this they are requesting that the Town Council closes the car park with due notice being given to residents and visitors. The organisers would be responsible for managing the event including marshalling and traffic control.
Resolved. It was proposed by Cllr Long, seconded by Cllr Mrs Gold and unanimously agreed that permission be given for the closure of Saltash Road car park to facilitate the relocation of the start and finish point of the Carnival Parade on 10th July 2010.
There being no further business the meeting was declared closed at 8:45pm
