PORTREEVE & MAYOR MAKING CEREMONY
23rd May 2006

On the left is the newly elected Portreeve
and Mayor, Councillor Andrew Long. He is wearing the chain of office
which dates from 1907. Last years Portreeve Councillor Denise
Winfindale has been elected as his Deputy. She was presented with
the Deputy Portreeve & Mayors chain and the Mace of Office.
The Mace is solid silver and is dated 1583. On
the end is the original crest of the town which appears on the top
left hand corner of this web site. The crest behind Andrew & Denise
is the stylised version presented by Lord Compton to the Council in
1907, this is on the Mayor's and Deputy's chain.
