THE TOWN
THE COUNTRYSIDE

The town is surrounded by quiet lanes such as Haye Lane [left] or the lane from which this footpath at Frogwell leads.

Newbridge [left] marks the edge of the parish. Farming still continues in fields adjoining the town [right].

Wherever you go there are splendid views, from Holmbush Mine [left] you can see eastward to Dartmoor.

Above. The view across the town [right] shows Bodmin Moor in the distance.

Left. If you climb up to Kit Hill past mine chimneys to the Stack at the top you will find panoramic views as far as the Tamar estuary to the south and Dartmoor and Bodmin to either side. For the less energetic or less able there is a track to the top of the hill with a car park at the top.

Below. If you travel away from the town, especially to the south west you can clearly see the town's position below Kit Hill. In this picture Callington is to the right and Kelly Bray to the left.
