| CALLINGTON NEW
OUTLOOK is so friendly and its members have so much fun that
some of the have belonged since it began in ]986. It has a constant
membership of between 40 and 50 people, men and women, who enjoy
outings, speakers, lunches, skittles, ten-pin bowling and the
occasional holiday abroad. |
 |
| The Club began life
under the auspices of the 3A Project Circle and has evolved into its
present format. It is independent and not affiliated to any other
group or club. |
Each week during term time we meet on Tuesdays from 10am until
l2 noon at Callington Cricket Club where we hear invited speakers on
many subjects, or we set off from there on walks or car rides to
places of interest. For Coach trips we leave from the Saltash
Road FREE Car Park. The first meeting of each month ends. With a pub
lunch for those who Wish to go |

A committee of six run the Club-
They are: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Saving Club Treasurer and
two others:. plus two co--opted members. They compile a programme of
events for each term and every member is given a copy. |
 |
| The A.G.M.is held at
the beginning of March when all the Committee members can, if they
wish, stand for re-e1ectitm. All current Committee members must be
proposed and seconded as must any other club member who wishes to
stand. In the event of more than six names being put forward there
will be a secret ballot. |
| The subscription is reviewed at
every A.G.M. It is currently (2005) £9 per annum and this includes
membership of the Cricket Club. The subscription is paid in full
within one month of the A.G.M. A reduced rate exists for anyone
joining in the second or third term of the year. Visitors are always
welcome and we ask for a contribution of £1 from them. If they join
the Club during that term their visitor's fee of £1 is refunded. |
 |
| All members are asked to
complete an index card giving their name, address, phone number,
date of birth. next of kin (or contact name) and phone number |
|
Petrol money: On car trips transport
is shared and passengers are asked to contribute a nominal amount
towards fuel costs so that drivers are not out of pocket.
Tea or Coffee is provided for 25p. Please bring your own mug |

|
Each year at our A.G.M. we choose a
charity, usually a local one, which we support by raising money
with stalls at the Street Fayre and Portreeve's Charity Day and,
this year, a Jumble Sale. Our big fund-raisers are the Annual Quiz
Night which is held in the late autumn, a dance he1d in the summer
and a concert Which takes p1ace in the spring. The C1ub great1y
va1ues the support that the members give at these events by manning
stands, he1ping with refreshments and providing raffle prizes.

We run a Savings Club which some
members subscribe to and find very useful when paying their
subscription or using towards the cost of meals or outings. Payments
can be made at any time, as can withdrawals, and may be used for any
purpose.
Social events for members: We let our hair down at Christmas
when we organise a party for members. In recent years we have
provided entertainment in the shape of a potted pantomime which has
been as much fun for those who take part as for the audience!
|
 |
| We welcome in the New Year
with festive meal [the Savings Club is a useful way of paying
for this]. Twice a year we hold a Skittle Morning followed by lunch
and at the end of the Summer Term we hold a Barbeque which is always
very enjoyable. |
| All in all, New Outlook is
a club that tries not to stagnate, is always looking for new
challenges and offers a warm welcome to anyone who attends meetings.
