JOIN THE RUGBY CLUB Callington Rugby Club was formed in 1996 by founders Kim Campbell, John Pritchard and Nick Woodley. Since its creation Callington RFC has quickly grown in competitiveness. Last year, in only their fifth season, Callington's campaign in Cornwall Two League brought them success and they were promoted to Cornwall One. Their progress over the years is shown below:- 1996-7
Friendly matches only Callington do not have their own ground so they play home matches on the well-tended pitch at Duchy College but they are currently raising funds to get their own ground and changing rooms. The Old Clink pub in Callington provide the after match facilities and the club's trophies and memorabilia are displayed in the back bar. The Club have gained sponsorship from several businesses in the town, for which they are very grateful. Ginsters' generous support this season will enable them to start their youth development plan, which will help them strengthen their future. To enable them to consolidate their success, and to give it room to expand, the Club is looking to acquire a suitable site on which to create it's own pitch and changing rooms. Appropriate funding has been obtained and the only hurdle is to now find a suitable plot of land. The Club welcomes new players. If you are over 17 and interested in playing for Callington RFC please contact Kim Campbell on 01822 832428 or Ali Skews on 01579 389168 or just turn up for training at Duchy College on a Wednesday evening.
